Hoping to enjoy gorgeous fall weather in the backyard? Take your steaks off the grill and put them into your outdoor wood burning pizza oven for an evening you won't soon forget.
In this video, Carmen Parisi, of Chicago Brick Oven, shows us how to cook the perfect steak outdoors. Delicious!
Ingredients
- 4 NY Strip steaks, 10-14 oz each
- 9 Oz. bottle of oyster sauce
Preparation
To marinate your steaks, mix oyster sauce with equal parts water in a deep pan big enough to hold all four steaks. Coat both sides of each steak in marinade, then leave all ingredients in the pan overnight.
Heat your brick oven to 750 degrees Fahrenheit.
Preheat your cast iron skillet in pizza oven for 10-15 minutes. Place two steaks in the pan, and sear for two minutes. Then, rotate the steaks from left to right, searing the same side of the steak, but in the opposite direction. This will help create an even sear. Repeat the process on the other side of the steak, giving your meat a perfect sear.
Pull the skillet towards the front of the oven to continue cooking the steaks to desired doneness (yes, that's a word), watching carefully. When they are cooked to your specifications, remove steaks and repeat with remaining two steaks.
