Can't decide between peach cobbler or cherry cobbler? Why not make both? Try this award winning peach cobbler recipe revised to add a cherry cobbler recipe! Cooked in a large cast iron skillet using a wood fired pizza oven makes this a dessert you don't want to miss!
Here's how it happened:
We purchased a cast iron skillet online but when we got it realized it was a much larger skillet than anticipated. This 15" cast iron skillet was much larger than the standard 10.5" skillet so I decided to cook two cobblers instead of one!
I took my all-time favorite peach cobbler recipe doubled it and added cherries to one side and peaches to the other giving us two cobblers instead of one. Then, we cooked it in our Prime wood-fired oven for a dessert everyone loved!
First, watch the video for inspiration and tips. Then, get the recipe below:
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
2 cup self-rising flour
2 cups sugar, divided
2 cup milk
4 cups sliced peaches (2 cans)
4 cups cherries (2 cans)
Make sure your wood-fired oven is heated to around 450 degrees.
Melt butter in your cast iron skillet. Stir together flour and 1 cup sugar; add milk and mix well. Pour into the butter. I use a fork to blend the mixture into the butter. Add peaches to 1/2 the cast iron skillet and cherries to the other half; do not stir.
Put in your oven and bake for 45 minutes - 1 hour. Don't forget to turn it periodically so each side is done evenly.
When it's done, serve warm with vanilla ice cream! We put ours in cups to make it easy but feel free to use the biggest bowl you have because you're gonna want seconds!
